By With the upcoming release of Alice Through the Looking Glass, I thought I would share another piece of lovely fairytale decor from my wedding that I incorporated into my home 🙂
Alice in Wonderland is so great because it is so wonderfully strange and outside of the box. Now I thought I would be a bit rebellious and turn something so strange and out of the box into something classic and elegant. Instead of having a wedding cake, I had tiers of Alice in Wonderland tea party themed cupcakes. Adding to the theme, some of my cupcakes were in vintage teacups and they looked absolutely beautiful.
I was so in love with my cakes and I just could not stop looking at them so I decided to display my teacup just as they were at my wedding with the addition of a few trinkets from my special day.
All you need is a vintage teacup and saucer in the colour of your choice. I of course kept the pink and gold on because pink is my favourite colour. Then you just need to find a pearl necklace (a cheap one will do) with small pearls to place inside the cup and let it spill over out on to the saucer. The perfect necklace will have smaller pearls near the clip and gradually get thicker towards the neckline. This way the pears spilling out will be nice and small but the pearls spreading across the saucer will be nice and chunky and easier to see. The addition of a small decorative cracker I thought was a really nice touch. These can be purchased at most craft stores and Etsy stores. Now the most fun part is placing that special something in the cup that you want to display. I had little heart sparklers at my wedding and gold and white party poppers, which I thought would be the perfect addition. While the popper may not be the most beautiful or expensive thing in the world, it just takes me back to my special day and makes me smile. Sometimes it’s the little things in life that are the most important.
You don’t always need expensive or fancy things to brings something classic and fun home. Sometimes all you need is a little imagination and some trinket treasures to make your home beautiful 🙂
