Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly Game

Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly

Jack Skellington brought a little darkness to the beloved holiday Christmas, and this Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly board will definitely do the same and bring a little darkness to you and your inner competitiveness.

Monopoly is my absolute favourite board game and I take it very seriously. You have to be very careful when playing this game because if you’re surrounded by competitive people like myself, the games can get very intense and very dark. Now there are plenty of Monopoly variations, but when you feel like being a little different and trying a particularly evil strategy, you might want to opt for this fun Nightmare Before Christmas themed board. This board can be used any time during the year, but I think it would be particularly fun to break out during Halloween or Christmas.

Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly Board

Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly MoneyAs you can see, all your favourite Nightmare Before Christmas characters have taken over the Monopoly board and your aim is to purchase various Nightmare Before Christmas themed properties such as Spiral Hill, Zero’s Tomb, and Oogie Boogie’s Casino with Jack Skellington themed money. The Chance and Community cards have also turned into Christmas Presents and Halloween Presents, which I thought was quite clever although the names are quite misleading because you won’t alway be getting a present so you still need to be careful!

Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly Houses and Hotels Toys and Assembly Lines

Also, rather than purchasing houses and hotels, you will be purchasing Toys and Assembly Lines. While the naming is clever, the ‘Toys’ and ‘Assembly Lines’ are still in the shapes of houses, only the houses are now black rather than green. It would have been nice to see something a little different, even if the detailing was something minor rather than just a colour change.

The tokens are Nightmare Before Christmas themed as well and include: The Mayor’s Hearse, Jack Skellington’s Head, Evil Teddy, Zombie Duck, Sally, and Oogie Boogie. I think the tokens were very well made and included classic pieces along with some strange quirky ones as well. My only complaint is about the Sally token which I feel could have been made better with a little more detail and clarity. Apart from that, I think these tokens were very well designed and would make great collector’s pieces as well.

Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly Tokens

As with every Monopoly variation, the Go Space, Jail, Free Parking, and Go to Jail Spaces are not themed and remain as the classic spaces. I do wish these spaces were themed as well because it would make the game that much more interesting, especially if each variation functioned a little differently in terms of its rules and gameplay. Luckily Monopoly itself is an incredibly fun and entertaining game and I’m always happy to play the classic rules.

If you’re a Nightmare Before Christmas fan and a Monopoly fan, this is definitely a very nice variation. This is not the Nightmare Before Christmas Monopoly Collector’s Edition, but I think it is still very well made and looks very stunning. If you can find this one for a reasonable price, I definitely think it’s worth picking up 🙂
