Mad Hatter Disney Store Plush Toy

Disney Store Mad Hatter Plush

Merry merry unbirthday! You must have a cup of tea to celebrate, and who better to celebrate it with than this amazing Disney Store Mad Hatter plush toy?!

I’m not a big plushie collector generally but every time I walk in to a Disney Store the wall of plushies always takes my breath away. I can never walk by without grabbing at least one of the plushies off the shelf and giving it a little cuddle. The wall of plushies always reminds me of the old school Disney Stores that used to have a mountain of plushies in the back below the big screen playing our favourite classic Disney songs. So while I don’t go out of my way to collect plushies generally, I make an exception for Disney because the plush toys are always so well done and I cannot resist the temptation to create my own wall of plushies at home so I can feel like I’m in a Disney Store all the time.

With the release of Alice Through the Looking Glass this week, I thought it was the perfect time to have a little tea party of my own and review this amazing tea partner. The level of accuracy of this plush toy to the classic Alice in Wonderland movie is absolutely amazing. This plush toy is exactly what I would imagine a plush toy of the Mad Hatter to look like minus a couple of very minor colour discrepancies, which I actually think improve his look.

The plush toy is 18″ long from hat to heel. He has a nice well-stuffed big hat just as he does in the movie and it is very soft. The hat is green just as it is in the movie with a 10/6 foam tag on the side. The only discrepancy from the movie is the grey rim around the hat, which should be a darker green colour to the hat, but I think the grey really works rather than having too much green.

His actual face is incredibly well done and I am actually very impressed because making human characters into plush toys is not the easiest thing to do and they tend not to be very accurate. This Mad Hatter plush toy has crazy grey hair, a big round nose, and a wide open mouth showing his two teeth and tongue just like he has in the movie. The nose is perfectly proportionate to what it was in the movie and I’m very glad that his mouth is wide open with his tongue showing because his tongue was always sticking out in the movie.

The Mad Hatter’s outfit is also very well done and is just as it was in the movie. The Mad Hatter has a bright blue bow tie and a satin collared jacket. The jacket is a very light green like it was in the movie and has two little buttons on the back. His pants are also the same shade of green as his hat as it was in the movie. The pant legs move up and down the Mad Hatter’s legs to reveal his light blue socks, which again is accurate to the movie. The only discrepancy again are the colour of his shoes and his shirt, which are grey rather than a darker shade of green. Again, I think the grey works really well with the outfit and does not take away from the accuracy to the movie. There are already two different shades of green going on in his outfit and having a third might have been a bit too much green.

Now because this is an official Disney Store plush toy, the Mad Hatter plush toy has the ‘Genuine Original Authentic Disney Store’ patch on the bottom of his left foot. The patch would be displayed nicely if you sat him down on a shelf of a table. I think the patch is a really nice touch because I do think the Disney Store plushies are of a very highly quality and it’s nice to have something on the plush to make it official.

I know collecting plush toys is not everyone’s cup of tea (hah, see what I did there?), but if you do like plush toys, this Mad Hatter plush toy is beautifully done and would make a lovely addition to your home. He can be found in most Disney Stores and on the Disney Store website for $19.95 in the US or £18.95 in the UK. I do think he is a bit on the expensive side, but at least he has been really well done and is of a very high quality.
