Aladdin is a Disney classic and it has a special place in my heart, not only because I love the movie, but also because I played a lot of the 1993 Aladdin Super Nintendo Game. I spent countless hours as a child collecting gems and trying to get through very difficult levels. I recently ordered this Aladdin Collectible Figure because all it did was remind me of the first stage of the Aladdin game, particularly this scene:
This Aladdin Collectible Figure is a 1992 Mattel figure. There are 10 figures to collect in this collection and include characters such as Prince Ali, Jasmine, Jasmine and Rajah, and Sultan. I opted for the classic “street rat” Aladdin figure with Abu because it reminds me of the Super Nintendo game, but it is also represents the beginning of Aladdin’s journey.
This Aladdin and Abu figure has a built-on stand with Aladdin standing with Abu wrapped around his left leg reaching for the lamp which Aladdin is holding up proudly in the air. Considering the age of the figure, it is very well made. It is very detailed and even has the little yellow patch with red stitching lines on his right leg. The lamp in his hand is also very detailed and has a nice dark gold pearl finish.
The packing is very retro and I think it looks great. The clear plastic packing holding the figure even has artwork detailing, which I think is a really nice touch. Because this is a collector’s figure, there is a squared plastic bit on the bottom to ensure that the package can stand on its own and be displayed which is great because most collectors will not take it out of the package. Of course on the back of the packaging there is an image of all the figures you can collect in the collection.
Like Aladdin, I think this collectible figure is a diamond in the ruff and I think it would be great for any toy collection. Aladdin is a Disney classic loved by many and I think there a lot of people who would appreciate this gem. Although is an old figure, there are plenty floating around for a reasonable price so if you’re looking for a nice retro piece for your collection, I think this would make a great addition.
