Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Rose Bell Jar

Beauty and the Beast is one of my all-time favourite classic Disney movies, and Belle is by far my favourite Disney princess. It’s great to have a Disney Princess who loves to read and broaden her mind, and being a bookworm myself, Belle was always someone I could relate to as a child. Beauty and the Beast is a movie I have seen over and over again, and I have always looked for ways to bring the magic of the movie into my home. I love this movie so much that I even incorporated it into my wedding by having ‘enchanted rose’ bell jars as centrepieces, which I now also use as décor in my living room 🙂

The Enchanted Rose is what brings magic to the movie, and it’s something that I believe can be used as décor in either an elegant and subtle way, or in the most movie-accurate way possible for a child’s room, or as part of a toy collection. The sky is the limit.

If you like the way I created my Enchanted Rose bell jar, creating one for your own home will be no trouble at all.

Enchanted Rose Bell Jar Materials

All you will need is the following:

  • 1 Bell Jar
  • 1 small vase of your choice with a lip small enough to hold your flower/flowers up straight (mine is a LSA International sprig vase – 11cm high with a lip approximately 1 inch in diameter)
  • Fake flowers of your choice – **Do not use real flowers in your home as the jar will get misty and the flowers will grow mold. Real flowers will be okay for a wedding/event if they are only put in the jar for a short period of time)
  • Silk ribbon to tie around your flowers (optional)
  • Fake Moss – this can be purchased at your local craft shop (optional)
  • Vintage books to place your bell jar on (optional)

Obviously, putting together the bell jar is pretty straightforward. Put the flower(s) in the vase and put the vase underneath the bell jar lid. You may place the vase on the base of the bell jar, or place the vase on some vintage books and place the jar lid on the books. To make things a little easier, I found that if you’re going to use the fake moss, it is easier to place the vase on the base first and then scatter the moss around it rather than laying all the moss down first. I think the vintage books underneath the vase or bell jar base is a really nice touch, unfortunately my base was too large to fit over any of my pretty vintage books. If you can make this work, I think it makes your bell jar look that much more beautiful.

Now if you prefer to have the most movie-accurate version possible, these can be found on Ebay and Etsy, however they will come at a significant cost (see links below). Alternatively, you can make your own floating rose just like it was in the movie by following this tutorial: http://paulpape.tumblr.com/post/38639020450/creating-the-beauty-and-the-beast-floating-rose

No matter what look you go for, I think this idea is a wonderful way to bring the magic of Beauty in the Beast into your home or to any event. I hope that you like my take on it and please comment below to show me your own enchanted roses, as I would love to see what people come up with! 🙂
