Monopoly Nintendo Collector’s Edition

If you ever want to see someone’s true colours, bring out the Monopoly board!

Monopoly is my all-time favourite board game, but it is not for the faint hearted. Now what better way to play Monopoly than with your favourite Nintendo characters in this Nintendo Collector’s Edition of Monopoly – no controllers needed.

Nintendo Monopoly Board

Nintendo Monopoly Property CardsAs you can see, all your favourite Nintendo characters have taken over the game board. They all make an appearance in the centre of the board and are spread out all over the board as properties. Rather than having title deeds to different properties, you get the title deeds to your favourite characters with Power-Ups for houses and Invincibility for Hotels. Although the Power-Ups and Invincibility are a nice touch, the physical houses and hotels are the same as the classic game, which is a bit of a disappointment because I believe this was a missed opportunity to create some more collectible pieces that would be exclusive to this board.

Nintendo Monopoly Tokens

The tokens and money are Nintendo themed as well and the collectible tokens include a mushroom, star, Link’s sword, Samus’ Helmet, Pickman’s Rocket, and a Gyroid.

We’re not any safer on this board as there are still two tax spaces with a Nintendo twist, a ‘treasure chest deposit’ and ‘1 Up Mushroom’. The Go space, jail, free parking, and go to jail space remain the same. I feel like this was a bit of a missed opportunity because the corners could have been Nintendo themed as well with something like ‘Bowser’s Castle’ and ‘Course Clear’.

The Community Chest and Chance spaces are now ‘Block’ and ‘? Block’, which I think are a really nice touch as the actual events/outcomes are Nintendo themed as well.

If you love Monopoly and you love Nintendo, I think this would be a great addition to any collection and would be fun for the family as well. I played mine on Christmas day and this resulted in a very intense game, but that’s what Monopoly is all about. Those who put their Bowser game faces on and show no mercy are the ones who will prevail!
