The Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors Comic Book 22

The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror Bongo Comics #22

It’s that time of year again, the leaves are changing colours, everything is pumpkin flavoured, and it’s time for Simpsons to get a little scary with its newest issue of Treehouse of Horror. Treehouse of Horror is published once a year by Bongo Entertainment and this is issue #22. With the release of the new Ghostbusters movie this year, it’s not very surprising that The Simpsons would have their own take on this classic remake.

I’m not the biggest superhero fan, but I can always appreciate a comic book filled with cartoon classics like The Simpsons. Of course the Ghostbusters themed cover has you drawn in straight away, but there are three other spooky Treehouse of Horror stories to enjoy as well!

The Simpsons The Ghost Bashers Comic Book

Ghost Bashers

This is a story written by Tony Digerolamo and is a Simpsons take on a classic we all know and love, Ghostbusters. The nuclear power plant is haunted by former employees and Homer and the gang have been hired to take care of Springfield’s ghost problem. What’s great about this story is that there is a reference to the new Ghostbusters movie as well, but will Homer and the gang let the ladies help?

The Simpsons The Ex Files Comic

The Ex Files

This is a story written by Ian Boothby about Lisa and Nelson, two exes who must work together to solve a food monster mystery at school. Homer makes a wonderful cameo where he had some trouble with a make-your-own-jogsaw machine at the mall. Can Lisa and Nelson work together to solve the mystery?

The Simpsons Retirement Castle of Vampires

Retirement Castle of the Vampires

This is a story written by James W. Bates and is a story of the Retirement Castle being taken over by vampires. Bart and Grandpa have to work together and survive in a house of vampires. Can Homer help save the day with his knowledge of doughnuts and blood banks? While the story is entertaining, this is probably my least favourite story of the four.

The Simpsons Bart and Lisa vs The Red Menace Comic

Bart & Lisa vs The Red Menace

This story is written by Terry Delegeane about Bart and Lisa making a trick-or-treat stop at Professor Frink’s laboratory where Bart and Lisa discover a singing frog and red monster all of us nostalgic looney tunes know all too well. While this is the shortest strip, this is definitely my favourite. If you’re an 80s or 90s baby, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

If you love Simpsons and the Treehouse of Horror episodes, it’s definitely worth picking up the Treehouse of Horror comic books, even if you don’t intend to collect all the regular Simpsons comic books. They come at a low cost of $4.99 US or $5.99 Canadian and is great for Halloween!
