Disney Infinity 2.0 Maleficent figure

Disney Infinity Maleficent 2.0 Figure

Unfortunately, this year Disney announced that they will be discontinuing production of Disney Infinity. After two final releases, including Alice Through the Looking Glass characters and Finding Dory characters, Disney Infinity will be no more 🙁

As I’ve said previously, it’s understandable things did not go as well as Disney would have hoped considering all the gaming options that are out there these days. It’s hard to compete when there are other very well loved collectible gaming merchandise and figures, such as Amiibos and Lego Dimensions. As a collector, I know I found it very difficult to keep up with all the merchandise and although the Disney Infinity figures were incredibly well made, I often found myself picking up Amiibos more often than Disney Infinity characters. The trouble with being a collector or gamer is that there simply isn’t enough money in the world to keep up with all the cool merchandise that is constantly being released.

While it is sad news that Disney Infinity will no be more, every cloud has a silver lining. Apart from the newest Disney Infinity figures which were released very recently (summer 2016), you will find most Disney Infinity figures on some sort of offer. I went into Smyths Toys the other day and all the Disney Infinity figures were £5 and were on an  offer of buy one, get the third free. Getting three brand new Disney Infinity figures for £10 isn’t a bad deal and I know you can find even better deals in the US.

Disney Infinity 2.0 Maleficent figureOne of the figures I just had to pick up was this Maleficent figure. This Disney Infinity 2.0 figure of Maleficent is very well done and looks very much like Angelina Jolie. The best features of this figure are definitely Maleficent’s face and horns. The sculpting and paint job of the face and horns is definitely what sold me on this figure. The makeup that is painted on is absolutely stunning.

Maleficent’s outfit may be all black, but it is also very well sculpted. Maleficent’s pose is also perfect because she’s posed as if she knows she’s done something wrong but has an innocent “who me?” stance. Maleficent also has a wooden staff in her hand with a green round vinyl crystal on top. My only complaint about this Maleficent figure is that there are some paint problems on her body which you can see in the image. While this is slightly annoying, it ‘s not a deal breaker and at least all the figures are now on some form of offer.

While the base of the figure is relatively simple compared to some of the other Disney Infinity figures, I think it’s perfect. It’s a completely black base with some swirling details as if smoke is swirling and building up to a sudden magical vanish.

If you like collecting any sort of Disney merchandise and you enjoyed the Maleficent movie, I highly reccomend picking up this figure because you’re likely to get a great bargain. Do keep in mind that once they’re all gone, they’re gone forever from stores. I don’t think this is something you should purchase for the sake of potential resale value in the future because chances are it’s not going to be worth a whole lot in 10 or 20 years. However, if you like the figure or you like the game, or if you’re Disney collector in general, it’s definitely worth picking up because it is a very well made figure.
