I don’t think I even have to mention the incredible success and popularity of Frozen and the iconic song, ‘Let it Go’. When I went to Disneyland Paris in 2014, all I saw around the entire park was every little girl wearing Elsa’s ice blue dress along with a long, blonde braided wig. Frozen has definitely become one of Disney’s classic movies for this generation and since its release, there has been absolutely no shortage of Frozen toys and merchandise. You can get Frozen anything including Lego, bikes, beds, shampoo, chocolate surprises, tissues, dresses, and much, much more. Now I’m not usually a fan of musicals, but I absolutely loved Frozen and I could listen to ‘Let it Go’ on loop all day long.
During Christmas 2014, the Disney Store was having a promotion where if you spent $25 in the store, you could purchase this cute and cuddly Olaf plush for $10.00. Promotion or no promotion, being a collector of the Disney Store plushies, there was no way Olaf wasn’t coming home with me to join the rest of the Disney gang. It goes without saying that an Olaf anything is going to be adorable and this plushie is no exception.
Olaf is incredibly soft and cuddly and has a nice big smile on his face. In terms of the material, he is made of polyester fibre, polyethylene stiffeners, and polyurethane foam. As Olaf points out in the movie, he doesn’t have any skulls or bones, he is just incredibly soft and with a nice big tushie so that he has no problem sitting up straight on any surface. He has three pentagon-shaped coal buttons, two on his lower half, and one on his upper half. Olaf has brown stuffed twig arms with four ‘fingers’ on both sides, a nice big orange nose, and a shiny tooth sticking out of his mouth. On the bottom of his left foot, he has the ‘Genuine, original, authentic Disney Store’ patch embroidered on, which I always think is a really nice touch because there are so many plushies out there, but Disney Store plushies tend to be of a higher quality toys and it’s nice to have a stamp that makes it official.
The only complaint I have about this Olaf plushie are the felt twigs on his head. The material both feels and looks quite cheap, which is a little disappointing considering the plush is normally $20.00. It would have been nice to see stuffed twigs like they did with his arms. Even if stuffed twigs weren’t possible because they wouldn’t stay up as they should, I feel like a better alternative could havebeen found. Although the twigs on his head are not the greatest, if he is put on display, they look absolutely fine and you can’t really notice the difference in material until you actually touch them.
Olaf is the friendliest and most loveable Frozen character and if you’re a fan, this plushie would make a great addition to your home. This Olaf is a Disney Store plushie and is still available on the Disney Store website. I know Olaf loves the summer, but he is great to have around the house during the winter holidays. If you keep him around all year-round like I do, make sure you get some snowflakes so Olaf has his own personal flurry, hehe.
