I solemnly swear this Dementor Funko Pop! is up to no good, but that’s what makes it so great!
In the world of Harry Potter, Dementors are the foulest creatures that roam the earth. They feed on human happiness and can even consume a person’s soul. Luckily, Harry Potter mastered the Patronus Charm and managed to keep the Dementors away. It’s a good thing us muggles won’t need a Patronus Charm because I was so excited to get my hands on this Dementor Pop!
The Dementor (18) is part of the Harry Potter 10-22 Series, which includes Harry Potter in his quidditch outfit (10), Hermoine in her Yule Ball dress (11), Ron Weasley in his Yule Ball outfit (12), Draco Malfoy (13), Luna Lovegood (14), Albus Dumbledore (15), Sirus Black (16), Dobby (17), Dementor (18), and Neville Longbottom (22).
This Pop! is incredibly unique because it is not like your traditional Pop! at all. It does not have the traditional body shape, head, or eyes. For obvious reasons, Funko had to abandon the traditional shape for this ghost-like creature.
I have to say, Funko has done an incredible job with this Pop! The level of detail is absolutely unreal. Starting with the head, the texturing is fantastic. The texturing of this Pop! is even reflected on the image of the Dementor’s head on the front of the box. It has a very grainy texture and it is fantastic. Because the Dementor is already black all around, it has two round indents in his head for eyes rather than the traditional black Pop! eyes. The most amazing thing about the head is definitely the mouth. The mouth is of course open as if the Dementor is preparing to feed on your happiness and it has a lot of grey paint detailing which makes the mouth opening look jagged and rotten, giving the Dementor a nice creepy look. The fabric detailing below the cheek bones is also incredibly well done and it wraps all around the Dementor’s head.
The amazing detailing only gets better with the Dementor’s body, both at the front and back. On the front, there is amazing detailing showing the Dementor’s rib cage and towards the bottom, there is detailing of the fabric draping down with rotting holes. The arms and hands are absolutely fantastic. The black cloth over the Dementor’s arms are all scratched up and the hands themselves are incredibly detailed and creepy. The skinny fingers look exactly like something you would see in a horror movie.
The back of the Dementor’s body is probably most impressive of all. The level of texturing and detailing is just unreal. You can see the ghostly body just draping down and being swept by the wind. Again there are holes throughout to show the rotting body of the Dementor which I think is a really nice touch. The ends of the draping fabric/ghostly body are so intricate for a Funko Pop! and really brings the Pop! to life.
As I always say with Funko Pops, whether you decide to decide to display your Pop in the box or out of the box all comes down to personal preference because you can always put the Pop! back in the box and nothing would be different. However, with this Dementor Pop, I highly reccomend taking the Pop out of the box for display because it is the only way to do the Pop justice. There are so many amazing details that would be missed if it remained in the box. Also, because of the draping in the back, this Pop is not packaged standing straightforward as most Pops are, but is packaged facing towards the right. If you place the box on a shelf or a stand, you would not get the full benefit of seeing the Dementor’s face. So if you do decide to pick up this Pop, I suggest taking it out and displaying the amazing detail with pride!
If you are a Harry Potter fan on any level, I highly reccomend picking up this Pop because it is such a unique Pop with an incredibly high level of detail. While it may be a little creepy, it would be an absolutely amazing addition to any Harry Potter or Funko Pop collection.
