By The Good Dinosaur was released in November 2015 and I have to say, it is an incredibly underrated Pixar movie. For some reason unknown to me, The Good Dinosaur just did not gain the usual popularity of Pixar movies. I think it’s a shame because not only was the animation absolutely stunning, but the story was a beautiful story about family, friendship, and having courage in life for something bigger than yourself.
During one of my usual trips to the Disney Store I noticed this adorable Spot Funko Pop! in the clearance section. This Spot Funko Pop had been marked down from £9.95 to £4.97! There was just no arguing with an adorable Funko Pop figure for less than £5 so I grabbed one and brought him home with me 🙂 After buying this adorable figure, I went back to the Disney Store and he was marked down even more to £3.00! Either Spot is really unpopular or the Disney Store is having a clear out to prepare for all the Beauty and the Beast merch to come in, but either way if you were ever thinking about purchasing a Spot Funko Pop!, now is the time to get it!
This Spot figure is part of the The Good Dinosaur series, which consists of only two characters, Spot (160) and Arlo (161). I do wish Funko would have at least included Poppa in the series as he was a significant character in the story. It also think it would have been cute if they included a little firefly companion as well. Again, I think the lack of figures in this series reflects the lack of popularity of this movie 🙁
The Spot Funko Pop! figure itself is really well done. Of course Spot has the traditional black Funko Pop eyes and is positioned on all fours, as he always was in the movie. Spot’s hair is really well done because it’s all messy and all over the place. Im glad there’s one section that particularly stands up at the top of his head because again, this stays very true to the movie. A really nice touch is golden brown streaks all throughout his hair, which you can really notice when you put the figure in the light. Of course Spot does not have a shirt, but he does have a grass skirt with brown leaves in the front and green, orange, and brown leaves in the back. I think the grass skirt is nicely done, but I do wish there was some colour in the front as well because without any green, there is a lot of brown in the front. A little hint of green in the front would have really brought this adorable figure to life.
If you’re a Funko Pop! collector and you enjoyed The Good Dinosaur, I think this figure would be a nice addition to any collection. At the time of this post, this figure has been marked down considerably and if you manage to find one still on sale, I would definitely pick one up! I know I’m very glad to have Spot join my family <3
