By Rolie Polie Clown is a toy that appears in Andy’s room in both Toy Story and Toy Story 2. While the Rolie Polie Clown never actually had any lines, we could hear him jingling and chiming as he bobbed around and we could see the panic on his face during the staff meeting when they received the news about Andy’s party.
The Rolie Polie Clown was only a minor background character based on the Tolo Toys Roly Poly Chiming Clown toy, and an official Toy Story Roly Poly toy was never released. Luckily, there are some really devoted Toy Story fans out there and replicas have been made. I had seen replicas all over Youtube and Instagram, but I just couldn’t get my hands on one 🙁 After a few months I saw the Roly Poly Clown come up on Ebay and I was absolutely thrilled. My family was kind enough to get me one for Christmas and I have to say, this is so fitting for Christimas and it is just one the most magical Christmas gifts any Toy Story fan could get.
The quality and level of the detail of this replica is absolute perfection. This replica is made in Russia and it is made of wood and has been hand-painted and lacquered to give it a plastic looking finish. The detailing of the paint job is perfectly accurate to the movie and he is perfectly to scale as well. The hair on the back of his head is even perfectly accurate to the movie and is painted with great detail and precision.
The most amazing feature of this replica is that he actually bobs back and forth and jingles and chimes! I cannot describe how amazingly accurate the jingling is, it is just something you have to hear. He has a flat bottom so that he can be displayed without having to worry about him rolling over or falling. If you tap him with slight force, he will start bobbing around and chiming. You will never have to worry about him falling over because he will just bob and bob and then come to halt all on his own. This replica really is a work of art.
This is an incredibly rare toy replica and it is not easy to find. The original seller of this toy is eBay seller bashford42785 and at the time of this post, he is no longer selling the Roly Poly Clown. It is possible that he may receive a new shipment and begin selling again or you may have to wait until someone decides to sell their own Roly Poly on eBay. While hunting this toy down may not be an easy task, if you’re patient and manage to spot it, I reccomend purchasing it right away. While it will not come cheap, it truly is a work of art and it is a must have for any Toy Story Collection.
