Alice in Wonderland DIY Drink Me

DIY Alice in Wonderland Drink Me ‘Drinks’

Read the directions, and directly you’ll be directed in the right direction.

Alice in Wonderland is such a great movie for so many reasons. It’s cute, it’s fun, and most importantly, it’s so wonderfully strange.

I managed to find some nice vintage Lewis Caroll books recently and With Alice Through the Looking Glass coming out soon, I knew I had to find something nice to compliment my lovely new books. Although I have some Alice in Wonderland toys, I wanted something that looked a little more elegant and “aged”.

I figured the best place to start was of course, Pinterest. I started scrolling through the thousands of things I’ve pinned over the years and spotted a wedding idea of putting “Drink Me” tags on pink champagne. This pin reminded me that I had the perfect little bottles (which I found in a pound store) which I could fill with some coloured water and add “Drink Me” tags to make some Wonderland-esque ‘drinks’.

Alice in Wonderland Drink Me Materials DIY

This project took no time at all and cost next to nothing. All I needed was the following:

  • Small bottles of your choice
  • Ribbon in the colour(s) of your choice
  • Scissors
  • Food Colouring in the colour(s) of your choice
  • White Card Paper
  • Hole Punch

As you can tell from the image, this little project is pretty straightforward.

All I did was fill my bottles with some water and put two drops of food colouring in the bottle and give it a good shake. I decided to go with blue because of Alice’s dress, pink because it’s my favourite colour, and red because the Queen’s of Hearts needed to be represented somewhere as well. I decided to use two types of bottles, some larger and some smaller, to have a little variety.

Next I went online and found some “Drink Me” printable tags. There is an abundance of tags to choose from on Etsy for a low cost or there are plenty of free printable tags online as well. Once you find a tag you’re happy with, you just have to print the tags on some card and cut out the tags.

Once you have your tags ready to go, you just slip the ribbon of your choice through the tag and tie the ribbon around the neck of your bottle. I wrapped it so that the tag appears in the front and tied a bow in the back (I’m no expert so I made the best bow I could).

Then voila, you’re done!

I think these would look lovely stood alone, but if you have any Alice in Wonderland books, they would look absolutely lovely with your books. If you decide to make some of your own, please share as I would love to see everyone’s creativity! The stranger the better!

P.S I think these would be great as Happy Potter ‘potions’ as well!

P.P.S These ‘drinks’ are not actually made for drinking, these are display items only. As the ‘drink’ is only water and food colouring, it wouldn’t be poisonous to drink, but I can guarantee they’re not going to taste as nice as they look 😛
