Jaq figure Lifting Key

Jaq with Antique Key

Being a toy collector does not necessarily mean you have to have the rarest, most valuable limited edition toys. We buy toys and collect toys because they make us smile and make us happy 🙂 Bringing the magic of what you love into your home does not always have to be an expensive task, sometimes all you need is a little creativity.

Jaq PVC figure

I go to car boot sales/yard sales quite regularly to look for hidden gems and I quite regularly come across a lot of of inexpensive little Disney PVC figures and cake toppers. While they may not be the latest Funko Pop or Mystery Mini, they are still pretty darn adorable. One day I came across a little Jaq figure with a smile on his face and his little arms reaching upwards. Obviously I immediately thought of the scene where Jaq and Gus steal the key and carry it up a countless number of stairs to save poor, locked up Cinderella. Now antique keys always make for great decor so I picked up an antique key I found at the car boot sale as well. The Jaq and vintage key cost me a mere £1.50, which is only $2.13!

The Disney theme has spilled into my living room since I had a few nice pieces of decor left over from my wedding so I figured it would be perfect to lean the antique key against my vintage Dickens books next to my Beauty and the Beast Bell Jar (http://geekkie.com/decor-and-display/beauty-and-the-beast-enchanted-rose-bell-jar/). I put my Jaq figure just underneath the key so it is as if Jaq is lifting the key onto my the books. The nice thing is it looks absolutely adorable but not too childish as the figure is quite small and subtle.

Recreating this in your own home would be quite simple as there are plenty of cheap little figures you can find online, but I reccomend checking out your local charity shops and car boot/yard sales as well. Remember, it’s all about being creative and using your imagination!
