By Off with your head!!! She’s mean, she’s nasty, and she has the worst temper you have ever seen, but you just can’t help but love her!
As I always say in my posts about plushies, I’m not a big plushie collector generally, but I make the exception for Disney Store plushies because that wall of plushies in the Disney Store gets me every time. The wall of plushies reminds me of the old school Disney Stores that used to have a mountain of plushies in the back below the big screen playing our favourite classic Disney songs. I am well on my way of creating my own Disney plushie wall so I can feel like I’m in the Disney Store all the time!
I started off my Alice in Wonderland Disney plush collection with the Mad Hatter, who was incredibly well done (Check out this link for full review: http://geekkie.com/toy-reviews/disney-mad-hatter-plush) When I purchased the Mad Hatter plushie, unfortunately there wasn’t an accompanying Queen of Hearts Plush toy. However after the release of Alice Through the Looking Glass, I saw this Queen of Hearts plush toy popping up in all the Disney Stores and I knew I had to have her. I decided to wait a little bit because the Disney Store often has offers and promotions for their plush toys and I figured I would get a bargain at some point. My instincts were right because one day while my mom and I were shopping, we saw the Disney Store had a promotion on their plush toys where if you buy one plush toy, you got the second plush toy for $5.00! My mom and I both collect the Disney Store plush toys so we each bought our own Queen of Hearts 🙂
Like the Mad Hatter plush toy, the Queen of Hearts plush toy is incredibly well done. The Queen of Hearts measures approximately 15 inches (height) x 9 inches (length) x 9 inches (width). The bottom half of the Queen’s dress is shaped like a dome, just as the Queen’s dress was in the movie. I am incredibly impressed with how soft and fluffy this plush toy is and I am also very impressed with the way her dress has been shaped with a flat bottom so that she can stand on her own and be displayed.
The dress itself is beautifully done and is incredibly accurate to the movie, particularly the colouring. As you can see in the movie, one half of the Queen’s dress was black in the front and the other half was red in the front and in the middle portion of her dress, one half was yellow with black stripes, while the other half was black with yellow stripes. The colouring on this Queen of Hearts plush toy is absolutely bang on, which really brings the toy to life. I think a really nice touch is that the black and yellow stripes are made of a faux leather material, so you have black leather stripes on the left side and yellow leather stripes on the right side. The cherry on top of this outfit is definitely the Queen’s heart-shaped sceptre which she uses to fan herself in the movie. Again, the heart sceptre is nicely stuffed and is very soft and squishy.
I am also very impressed with the Queen of Hearts’ face as it is not easy to make human cartoon characters into a plush toy. I think the face is very accurate to the movie and the expression is very similar to the expression the Queen has when we see her walk in for the first time in the movie. Not only are the facial features really well done, but there are also a lot of little details, which again, really bring this plush toy to life. The Queen of Hearts has long golden earrings just as she does in the movie and they even glitter and shine. The crown on her head is also glittery and shiny. The Queen of Hearts’ hair is in a long bun just as it is in the movie and it even has a red ribbon tied around it with a little bow.
Last, but definitely not least, is the ‘Genuine Original Authentic Disney Store’ patch. This plush toy wouldn’t be a Disney Store plush toy without the patch. The patch on this Queen of Hearts plush toy can be found dead centre on the very bottom of her dress. While it’s a bit of a shame the patch would not be visible when this plush toy is displayed, I think the patch is a really nice touch because I think the Disney Store plushies are of a very highly quality and it’s nice to have something on the plush to make it official.
While I know many people do not like to collect plush toys, if you’re in love with the Disney Store plush toy wall like I am and are a big Alice in Wonderland fan, I definitely think it is worth adding this amazing Queen of Hearts to your collection. Obviously this toy would be great for anyone, whether it is a young child or an adult Disney toy collector like myself. You can find this Queen of Hearts plush toy in your local Disney Store or on the online Disney Store. She is $19.95 US or £18.95 and if you’re looking to purchase this as a gift, you can add a customised tag as well for an additoinal £2.95, which is approximately $4.00. I do think this toy is a bit on the expensive side, but she if of incredibly high quality and is well worth the purchase if you love Alice in Wonderland.
