8-Bit Super Mario (Modern Colours) Amiibo

I was always a Nintendo girl growing up, and it brings me so much joy that retro gaming has made a big come back. While Amiibos are meant to be used in the actual Wii games, they have become quite the collector’s item and I can completely understand why that is the case. It’s created a bit of a ‘to open or not to open’ conundrum, but at the end of the day I think you should simply do what makes you happy. I love playing my Wii U but the Amiibos don’t add all that much for me personally so I get far more enjoyment out of seeing the lovely Amiibos on display with all my other toys 🙂

This 8-Bit Mario (modern colours) Amiibo is definitely my favourite Amiibo because it looks absolutely stunning and it makes me feel really nostalgic when I see it. The only thing that would make me feel more nostalgic is the classic colouring 8-Bit Mario, but I opted for the modern coloured version for now because I felt it was a nice cross between then and now and how my love for Mario has grown over the years.

This Amiibo was a Walmart exclusive at one point, but now there are plenty of stores that carry him. It is a Super Mario Bros. 30th anniversary Amiibo, which is always something nice to have on the box and on the Amiibo itself (on the green pipe).

For the sole purpose of display, I think this Amiibo is very well made and if you’re a Mario fan, definitely worth the purchase. I think both the modern colour version and the classic colour version look great and I’m sure I will be purchasing the classic colour version some time in the very near future. Amiibos, like Funko Pops, are a collection you cannot keep up with without some serious cash and storage space. Pick and choose the Amiibos you love, and if you love classic Mario, then this Amiibo would definitely make a lovely addition to your collection.
