Wizarding World Bottled Butterbeer

Butterbeer is a very popular butterscotch flavoured drink in the Wizarding World. We see Harry, Hermione, and Ron drinking Butterbeer in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince when they visit The Three Broomsticks. Butterbeer used to be exclusive to Wizarding World attractions, but it is now available for purchase online so you can enjoy your very own Butterbeer at home! You can drink it, you can display it, or you can have the best of both worlds!

How much is it and where can I get it?

The bottled Butterbeer is available for £5.95 from the Harry Potter Shop (see link below). The Butterbeer is brewed in the UK and is available to buy in brown glass bottles with labels designed by MinaLima. Each bottle contains 275 ml of Butterbeer – the butterscotch sparkling soft drink. The Butterbeer is non-alcoholic, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. You can buy the bottles individually or purchase a 4-Pack for £13.95.

Ingredients

Ingredients (as per the label on the bottle): Carbonated water, sugar, glucose syrup, pear juice concentrate, natural flavours, acid (lactic acid), fermented ginger root extract (water, glucose syrup, ginger root, pear juice concentrate, yeast), concentrate (apple, carrot, hibiscus), quillaia extract

Taste

As mentioned above, Butterbeer is a sparkling, non-alcoholic drink. It’s kind of like Marmite –  it’s not everyone’s cup of tea and you tend to either love it or hate it. I myself do not like the taste of it but that’s because I generally do not like fizzy drinks. I know a lot of people who think it tastes amazing. What’s great about this Bottled Butterbeer is that the bottle itself is collectible whether you like the taste of Butterbeer or not. What’s even better is that there are no labels over the bottle lid so you can display the full and unopened bottle or you can enjoy the drink and display the empty bottle.

The Bottled Butterbeer

The bottle is made of glass and is just under 8 inches tall. Just under the shoulder of the bottle there is embossed wording which says “BREWED BOTANICALLY”.

There is label on the neck of the bottle, the front of the bottle, and the back of the bottle. The labels are designed by MinaLima so they have a lot of gold foiling and are beautifully designed. When designing the labels, MinaLima imagined how the drink would have evolved from medieval times to present day and the ‘BB’ was designed to resemble a bee reflecting the nectar-like quality of the drink. The design is very elegant and has a stained glass feel. The ‘BB’ design can be seen on both labels on the front.

If you are purchasing these bottles in person from one of the Wizarding World attractions and you intend to display the bottles, be sure to look at the labels carefully before purchasing. I purchased mine from Harry Potter Photographic Exhibition in London and I found that some of the labels on the neck of the bottle were either torn or quite creased. If you are ordering online, unfortunately you of course will not be able to pick and choose.

Geekkie Opinion

This Bottled Butterbeer is a great collector’s item for any Harry Potter fan whether you like the taste of Butterbeer or not. The bottle makes for a great display piece at a very affordable price and is much better than the plastic souvenir cups you can purchase at the Wizarding World attractions. The pack of four also makes for a great display piece if you leave the bottles in the original packaging. If you’re not a collector, the bottled Butterbeer is a great way to bring the magic of the Wizarding World into your home, especially if you are having a Harry Potter themed party!
